Get Started! Copy and backup DVD Movies Now!

Are you looking for free DVD ripping and burning software? Just like you, a couple of years ago, I was on the hunt for free DVD copy software that would let me make backups of copy protected DVD movies. I wasted a lot of time and money wading through a sea of offerings, both commercial and free.
Now don’t get me wrong, some commercial offerings worked well, but the decent ones cost anywhere from $60-$120. The free and shareware ones were all over the place; most of them were simply inadequate. Ultimately, I found the correct solution that worked extremely well. And now, I would like to share that solution with you. But before we do that lets take a quick look at some DVD copy related issues:
DVD Encryption, otherwise know as Copy Protection
These days, most DVD movies have one or more forms of copy protection to prevent copying of the contents. There are various DVD protection mechanisms with names like RipGuard, ArccOS, Macrovision (CSS) and FluxDVD among others.
|
Unfortunately, the majority of DVD burning software is useless for backing up copy protected DVDs. Two of the most popular DVD burners, Roxio®and Nero®cannot defeat copy protection and must use external, third party DVD rippers to burn backups of copy protected DVDs. |
To fill this need, many commercial DVD rippers were created, which cost up to $120. But, copy protection mechanisms are always being changed and enhanced, and because of this many commercial DVD rippers are unable to rip all DVD movies. For example, many cannot copy DVD movies protected with Sony ARccOS or Ripguard.
DVD Image Quality
Don’t fall for those trying to get you to backup your DVDs to CD. Especially if they tell you the quality is the same. This is simply false advertising and the sign of a deceptive seller. The quality is quite low, close to the old VHS tape level.
|
It’s important to remember that DVD quality will only come from burning the backup copy to a blank DVD and keeping the DVD format. |
Solutions such as burning DVD contents to a CD, VCD or SVCD can take up to a ridiculous 6 Hours, even on fast machines. The same goes for converting formats from DVD video to Xvid, DivX, WMV, AVI, etc…They also take up to 6 hours and the quality also suffers greatly. The solution we’ll be looking at will show you how to make high quality DVD to DVD and DVD to Hard Drive backups within 45min to 90mins, depending on the speed of your computer and the size of the movie.
What’s the difference between commercial software and free software?
Over time I have tried and tested the worst and best DVD ripper software as well as DVD burning software. When I continuously failed to make backup copies of DVDs with Ripguard and Sony ARccOS protection, I knew I had to find something that worked. So I spent countless hours scouring the web to discover the best free DVD backup software. Through trial and error I learned how to use this software to perfection.
I discovered 2 Things:
|
1) The free offerings were as good as if not better than a lot of the commercial fare.
2) The commercial software was usually simplified, and because of this, did not offer as many features as the free software. |
These conclusions may lead you to ask “why would anyone buy DVD ripping and burning software when they can get it for free?” The answer is usually a combination of the following 4 reasons.
1) Many people do not know that there are free offerings available.
2) Many don’t know which of the free offerings will copy DVDs protected with the latest copy protection such as Sony ARccOS and Ripguard
3) Many people do not have the free time to find and test rippers or to spend hour upon hour learning how to use them correctly.
4) Lastly many people are unsure and wary of free software. They are afraid they may contain spyware, viruses, Trojans and other unwanted elements.
